Membership Types

Full Membership Open to those who own a Westerly yacht.
Associate Membership Open to those who have previously owned a Westerly yacht or those who have expressed an interest in owning a Westerly. An Associate Member may not hold a Committee position and is not entitled to vote at an AGM.

Subscription information

Membership duration: All memberships run from January 1st until December 31st of the same year, regardless of joining or renewal dates. Subscriptions are therefore due on January 1st each year.

Amounts

For UK Members (with mailing address in the UK - includes Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland) the subscription rate is 15.00 pounds sterling annually, if paid by Direct Debit.
For Overseas Members (with mailing address outside the UK - includes the Republic of Ireland) the subscription rate is 18.00 pounds sterling annually, if paid by Direct Debit.

Please note that for Overseas Membership, there is a postage fee payable when joining the Association. The fee contributes towards the additional postage costs of sending New Member Packs overseas.

All payments by any method other than Direct Debit will attract a non-refundable £1 surcharge to cover Admin and fees.

How to pay

Direct Debit
For ease of administration, and to save you an annual chore, Direct Debit is the preferred payment method. Please click this link to set up a Direct Debit.

By Credit/Debit Card or PayPal
You can also pay your subscription by Credit/Debit Card or PayPal via the WOA Shop (we cannot accept credit card transactions over the phone). Please be sure you do not have a Standing Order in place before you pay by Credit/Debit Card. If you are unsure please contact the Membership Administration Office.

You will have to register within the shop the first time you use it. Once you have selected your items view your basket to check your purchase before going on to pay.

Please put your membership number in the comments box before paying via the shop.

Click here for some instructions on using the shop.

Cheque or Postal Order
You can pay by sterling cheque or postal order. Please ensure you make the amount £16, payable to Westerly Owners' Association.

Please put your membership number on the back of the cheque or postal order.

If you require a written receipt, please supply a Stamped Self Addressed Envelope.

Other payment methods

For overseas members who do not have access to a UK Bank Account we will accept a Sterling Bank Draft or, of course, you may pay for your membership by credit/debit card or PayPal at the WOA Shop. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept cheques drawn in Euros or other currencies, and IBAN payments only in exceptional circumstances, as your costs will be disproportionately high especially when compared to Credit Card and PayPal fees.

If you wish to pay by Electronic Banking please contact the Membership Office for details.

Please quote your membership number

If you are renewing, or a lapsed member returning, please make sure you quote your membership number as reference, especially on electronic payments. It can be very difficult (sometimes impossible for more common names) to trace where the payment came from if there is either no reference or something that doesn’t mean anything to us!

How to find Technical Help

WOA does not have a resident team of technical advisers, but there are many opportunities for a member to get help and advice. We support a number of routes for obtaining information and opinions from members.

There are 4 distinct areas to look at:

The Technical Index in the Yearbook and on the Members Area of the website http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/technical.php
The Boatline - members who will talk to you about your boat; see
http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/boatlineMembers.php
The Forum http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/woaforum/index.php
The WOA Wiki http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/westerlywiki.index.php

There is also the Yahoo! Discussion Group (http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/discussionGroup.php). This requires a Yahoo! Account, and whilst is supported by WOA, is not part of this website.

Website

Javascript is used extensively in the site. If you are experiencing issues seeing some content, or there are apparently blank areas, it is very likely that you have Javascript disabled. You need to ensure that JavaScript is enabled in your Browser, and is not blocked by security tools or applications (“apps”).

Browsers and tools may compromise your browsing experience, especially if customised. As there are so many browsers and tools, you will need to look at the relevant help to see how to do this, or you can use Google or your trusted advisor to find the right solution for you.

If you do not wish to enable JavaScript, you can still navigate the site using the menus although some other features may not be available.

If you cannot get anything to work, email faq@westerly-owners.co.uk. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response, and be advised that our website managers may charge if the site is working correctly.
