After much consideration, we have decided to put Island Spice our lovely Centaur up for sale or part exchange for a larger vessel. Unfortunately we do not live locally where she is moored and with a young family we need space for longer trips and overnight stays. We are looking for anything over 30ft as long as it’s safe and seaworthy with space for a growing family.
She has a volvo 2003 which will be serviced before sold ready for the season.

Island Spice has received much love and investment in recent years.
Please see below a list of the many part, upgrades and investment:
. New hull gelcoat by a previous owner. Most are now painted as the factory gelcoats are starting to show their age by now. Having a recent professional gelcoat makes this quite a unique vessel. At the time this cost more than the boat value.
. New standing rigging 2022. Only been sailing a handful of time since so like new.
. New sails 2025 with less than 12 hours of sailing time between them. Genoa is biradial with padded luff. 2 reef mainsail both from crusader sails.
. New stackpack and lazy jack system 2026
. New running rigging 2025
. Upgraded fresh water system with pressure switch pump, all new hose and stainless steel clips, new filter system with filter cartridge so easy servicing.
. New exhaust system including hose and outlet with flap
. New upholstery and curtains
. New headlining, upgraded to PVC cladding for easy of cleaning and no more drooping headlining ever again. really does look traditional and only adds to the centaurs character.
. New coach sides foam backed vinyl
. New perspex windows. No more leaking aluminium frames.
. cupboard fronts sanded back to wood and varnished.
. Recent VHF radio
. New cabin wiring and lighting
. New engine and sink seacocks. Trudesign so no maintenance, the rest have been serviced but worth servicing again this winter.

As you can see there are a lot of very expensive items in this list. All in she owes me £10,000 which I am aware I will not get back but I am hoping with the right part ex a fair trade can be made for both.
I have invested a lot of time and money to ensure Island spice is a safe and easy to maintain boat for me and my family but with the need for more space she is now the perfect opportunity for someone who would like to downsize but isn’t ready to give up sailing just yet or for someone looking to start out.
Like boats, there are still things that could be improved on but nothing stops her from sailing away and with the usual yacht tinkering and maintenance like any boat requires, these bits could very easily be sorted with minimal cost. I have essentially fixed and replaced all the expensive bits leaving room for personal touches to be made but without the major costings that can add up as I have had. There are plenty of cheaper Centaurs on the market but they also have hidden cost like new sails, rigging etc that will push the budget more than what Island spice is up for.
