Time for a bigger boat now my family is growing up.
Somerled has been a great ‘go anywhere’ boat – from making good passages, handling big seas and tidal races on the west coast, to creek crawling and drying harbours on the east she really is versatile and a tardis inside. 6ft standing headroom, 4x full length bertsh, sea toilet, ORIGO spirit burner (no need to worry about Calor gas withdrawal!), deasil heater, Knox anchor (we call it ‘the handbrake’).
Currently on a deep swinging mooring in Loch Sween, near Crinan.
22 ft double keel and skeg takes the ground nicely. Very sea kindly.
I’ve done a lot of work since I bought her in 2019:
2022/23:
Rudder blade and metalwork replaced
New standing rigging
Guardrails raised
Anchor chain extended to 40m
New Chinese diesel heater
2021/22
Jackstay lines
New genoa cars
New running rigging
20/21
Antifoul striped to gel and epoxy painted
Deck stripped back and repainted with 2pac grip paint
Electrical system replacement including 2x80w solar, 2x80ah leisure, charge controller, 12v hook up & mains battery charger, batter monitor, all lights replaced with LEDs
Reinforced mat support to take Bermuda rig (to allow for removal of retro-fitted compression post) – boatwright certified.
New tiller
Lazyjacks
Cockpit and sink sea cocks replaced
Annual:
Antifoul scrub down and replacement, engine service, rigging laundered, sails stored ashore, blakes sea cocks service, woodwork varnished
Would be open to exchange offers for Tempest, Fulmar or Konsort
