This Westerly 33 comes with brand new rigging, new Selden boom which has never been installed (worth over £3,000), a 2009 Yanmar 3YM30 Engine (cost £4,995 when installed), is currently in the process of having an Osmosis treatment and has had the deck rebuilt and reinforced at rigging points. She has been out of the water since 2017 and kept dry internally with the cushions and sails kept in storage elsewhere.
We are selling her as a Project Boat as there is work to do. Below the waterline has been peeled and we have begun applying a layer of 450 biaxial laminate with West System Epoxy. The headlinings and electronics were removed. We will take a video and pictures next time we are at the boat too.
Work and purchases to date include:
- Brand New standing rigging worth over £2000 (For Main Mast new set of 1 x 19 stainless steel wire standing rigging complete with correct top terminals and Selden integral toggle chrome bronze bottle screws (excluding forestay) and for Mizzen Mast new set of 1 x 19 stainless steel wire standing rigging complete with correct top terminals and Selden integral toggle chrome bronze bottle screws)
- Brand New Selden boom, bracket and running rigging worth £1300
- Deck core at rigging points has been replaced with epoxy fibreglass and gelcoat (the white areas in the pictures) as well as chainplate locations inside reinforced.
- New chainplates.
- Hull was peeled below waterline and left to dry for last 7 years and we are in the process of completing putting a new layer of laminate which we aim to complete before sale.
- Keels epoxied.
- Handrails dipped to remove varnish and reinstalled
Unfortunately due to work commitments and not living in the area we are sadly having to sell.
She does require work but a large amount has already been spent on her.
The main jobs we had planned for this summer were finishing below the waterline (which we are continuing with when we have time until she is sold), rewiring, engine servicing (as has not been run since the boat came out of the water), installing electronics and stepping the masts. The previous owner removed the headlining so it’s up to the next owner whether to install new headlining or go for a different finish.
For a practical person with good DIY skills she’s a great opportunity to have a fantastic well built (and now improved structurally) Westerly at a below market price by taking on the project.
Please note she has been cleaned since these pictures but we haven’t been able to get to boat to take new pictures yet.
