Westerly Fulmar 32, Fin Keel, 1986 – Nordic Fulmar.(FR 318).
Nordic Fulmar is currently on her cradle at Creran Marine, Barcaldine, 11 miles from Oban on the A828 Fort William road.

General

Fractional Rig, fin keel. Cruiser Racer. 5 / 6 Berths. Designer Ed. Dubois. Built by Westerly Yachts Ltd. Portsmouth.Launched 1986.White GRP Hull.

Excellent condition with extensive upgrades and fully equipped.
One of the best Westerly designs, easily handled all round, serious passagemaker for a crew of up to six or a decent liveaboard for up to four.

Nearly new Waveco inflatable dinghy and Suzuki DF 2.5hp 4 – stroke outboard available separately. Six leg steel cradle also available separately.(at Creran Marine, Barcaldine).

Engine Beta 25hp / 3 cyl. 3 blade fixed prop.(full replacement 2014, approx. 400 hrs.) Winterised and full service 2024 / 25.

Hull top sides professionally repainted (white) International Perfection Plus, 2022. Professional preventative epoxy coating below waterline 2005. (DDZ. Largs)
Cast iron keel and GRP stub keel secured to the hull with 8no. Stainless steel keelbolts. Transom mounted boarding ladder and teak platform offset to port side of transom. Non slip deck mat repainted with International Interdek, 2025.

7 sails including Main, 2 genoas ( Selden Pro Furl), 3 jibs ( 1 storm jib) on removable inner forestay, Cruising chute with snuffer. Back stay tensioner.Extendable whisker pole and uphaul for genoa downwind.
Mainsail stackpack bag and mast turtle with lazyguys on adjustable halyards.

Sprayhood with stainless steel frame and separate grab bar over companionway.

CYCA (Clyde) handicap certificate no. 2449, March 2015. Final minutes per hour: 17.00; TCF 0.7167. Clyde sail no. 2027C.

Regarded by many as the best Westerly, Ed. Dubois’ Fulmar has excellent performance and handling qualities.She became a favourite with sailing schools, having a spacious, seagoing interior layout, long copckpit and perfectly capable and comfortable in heavy weather.(PBO)

In 1985, The Royal Lymington Cup match racing series used ten Westerly Fulmars helmed by the top international 12m skippers to test their skills in preparation for the America’s Cup.

Engine and mechanical equipment.
Beta 25hp, 3 cylinder naturally aspirated, indirect cooling with raw water inlet strainer.Fitted complete in 2014 at Creran Marine. All filters located for easy access. Serviced ashore annually.(approximately 400 hours total running time).
25bhp at 3,600rpm. Technodrive TMC 40P gearbox fitted new with engine.2014.
Cruising speed 6 knots.
All ancilliary engine fittings replaced 2014 including 3 – bladed fixed prop.
Prop shaft seal replaced 2022.
Single F-N-R lever in cockpit.Also Start / Stop with key, cylinder heater, alarms and blower switch panel.

Engine / battery compartment blower fan fitted 2023.
Drive belt, impeller, filters, seals, engine anode, antifreeze (heat exchanger) replaced regularly as specified.

28L hot water calorifier connected to engine and 1200watt x 240v immersion heater.
Hot and cold water pumped (12v) to galley sink and heads.
Eberspracher diesel warm air fan heater with two outlets in the cabin.
12v x 100L fridge built into galley worktop with condenser unit adjacent in cockpit locker.
2 burner, grill and oven gas cooker with 2.2kg Camping Gaz bottles ( 2 ) in vented locker in the cockpit.

12 volt electrics: Engine starter battery; 2 x Yuasa 110AH leisure batteries plus 12 volt windlass battery forward. ‘Leisure, engine and both’ main battery switch.
Victron 240v x 12v battery charger, 2023.Battery level monitor.
240 volt shore power system with RCD consumer unit: 2 x 13amp fused sockets; immersion heater and battery charger.

16 amp shore power connection point and extension lead.

Electronics

2 x 120watt Sunshine Solar tilting solar panels with Victron power controller.
1800 watt x 240volt x 12volt electric inverter with 2no. 13amp plug sockets and USBs.
A shelf in the cabin has been adapted to take a small microwave oven (max. 800 watts) and could be available by agreement.
Victron battery monitor, charger monitor and solar panel output display apps.

Raymarine C60 Wind, Speed / VMG / Depth.New depth ‘dashboard and transducer 2023. Retractable transducers with easy access in focsle.
B and G, 9 inch Vulcan Plotter / Navionics chart and Simrad TP 22 Autohelm.(Tiller drive) 2 Separate switch panels (all 12 volt):A. Nav lights and anchor / cockpit light; cabin lights, USBs and radio/ CD player.

All fused and switched through separate bus bars for easy access.
Windlass solenoid controller and breaker switch.
Anchor wash tank with deck fitting, hose and nozzle and fresh water filler on deck connected to bladder and pump in forward locker.
2 way switch 12v electric bilge pump with non return valve and seacock.
Icom VHF / DSC radio with emergency Mayday call and Lat / Long positioning.

Icom handheld VHF radio and battery charger.
LED switched overhead lighting in the saloon and galley. LED Nav table lamp and night light.

Deck equipment etc.

Rocna 15kg self righting bower anchor with 50 metres 8mm calibrated galvanised chain

Double bow rollers enabling anchor to be tied to one side to utilise second roller for mooring pick up.
Galvanised ‘Fisherman’s kedge anchor, chain and rope rode in cockpit locker.
2 Lewmar 30, 2 speed, self-tailing main winches with 2 handles.

2 Barlow 2 speed halyard winches.
All halyards and lines fed to cockpit, each with individual rope clutches including 2 reefing lines which can be adapted to a 3rd reefing line if required.
Boom kicker and clew outhaul lines.

Simpson Lawrence calibrated chain windlass (and rope gypsy). 12volt motor and ‘Up’ deck/ foot switch.Alternative hand operated gears and brake using standard winch handle.
6 No. alloy deck cleats.
Alloy stanchion posts with stainless steel guard wires.(netting round the foredeck to ease launching and retreiving the cruising chute).

2 new rudder post bushes fitted 2021.(Versatile Marine Engineering.)
3 separate teak cockpit gratings on cockpit floor with insert for cockpit table. Original teak rubbing strake and toe-rail.

Sails, Spars and Rigging

Kemp alloy mast and boom.Mast length 12.96m Mast height above water line: 15.0 metres Stainless steel rigging replaced 2013. Inspected by AS Yacht Services Jan. 2024.All found to be ‘Good or serviceable’.Report available.
The mast was unstepped in 2021 and re-stepped and rig tuned by Owen Sails.

The alloy whisker pole can be used to ‘pole out’ the genoa for running down wind. The height of the pole at the mast and above the deck can be adjusted as can the length of the pole.
Running rigging is in good condition and has been routinely replaced as required and cleaned during the winter.The main sheet and jib sheets have been replaced since 2021.
All sails are in good condition and lightly used, seldom used for racing and never stretched beyond sensible limits of wind strength.
The mainsail is a fully battened sail by Nicholson Hughes.Sail area 23.5 sq m.
The cruising genoa is by North Sails and had routine work done to the leach / sacrificial strip in 2023.The max genoa is designed as 155% overlap.
The racing genoa by Owen Sails has a tack onto the deck which can be detached and the sail furled as normal but cannot be furled for reefing.Area, 29.1 sq. m
The number 1 and number 2 jibs are hank on to the inner forestay which is wire on rope like a halyard and can be set up quickly to shorten sail.
The storm jib also hanks onto the inner forestay. Sail area 8.60 sq. m.
The main and cruising genoa are presently attached to the boat.All other sails are on board for inspection.

Safety and ancilliary Equipment

There are foam fire extinguishers forward, in the main cabin and adjacent to the galley / engine.
There is a fire blanket in the galley.

There is a carbon monoxide detector / alarm in the main cabin and a gas detector / alarm near the floor in the galley which is hard wired to the ship’s battery thro a control panel. Flares, lifejackets, safety harnesses are kept under the seat at the nav table.
A lifebuoy with strobe light and a throwing line are attached to the starboard pushpit.

A danbuoy is also attached to the starboard pushpit.
There is currently no life raft available with the boat, however, a valet style 6 man raft could be available separately by agreement.
Binoculars

Accommodation

The Westerly Fulmar is officially 7 berths as follows:
Forward V – double berth fo’csle with hanging locker and one side shelf at each berth. Saloon: On Port, seat converts into a very generous double berth;
Starboard, a single berth which increases in width by removing the back rest.
Both berths in the saloon can utilise the back rest as a leaboard for rest or sleep during a passage.
The quarter berth which is open abaft of the nav. table can be used as a double berth.
The Nav Table has a full size chart locker with hinged table top and seat with a locker beneath the seat for storing life jackets, harnesses flares and grab-bag etc.
The nav station accesses the VHF radio, electrics panel for nav and cabin lights also the CD player / radio.There is a LED lamp / night light at the nav table.
There are 4 Kenwood speakers in the main cabin.
All berths have generous locker space below amounting to approximately 1200 litres of storage space plus shelf lockers, drawers and utensil locker.
The galley on starboard has a gas cooker with 2 burners, grill and oven.There is a chest fridge under a worktop lid; a stainles steel basin, drain and pumped hot and cold water also a a cold water foot pump.
There is a cutlery drawer and 2 small lockers below the sink and crockery storage above the sink.
There are two LED lamps above the galley plus an opening Lewmar portlight.
The heads on Port have Lavac hand pump WC, a stainless steel basin with hot and cold blender tap with extendable hose which can be used as a shower.
There is teak open grating on the floor with a waste water sump below which can be easily discharged into the WC.
The heads can double as a wet hanging locker.
Opposite the heads is a full length hanging locker for waterproofs etc.
There is a shower curtain between the heads and the saloon which affords access to the forward cabin for changing.
There is 12volt LED lighting to all areas plus a Lewmar storm hatch in the main cabin.
The cockpit locker is enormous and accesses the engine, diesel and water tanks.The locker also accesses the 28 litre HW calorifier and fridge condenser unit.There is a shelf for oil, tools etc.Also hanging space for mooring warps and fenders and a cockpit table.
The cockpit also has a gas locker which houses 2 x 2litre Camping Gaz bottles and can be used for storing gloves and rags etc.
The cockpit is over 2 metres long which affords space for 2 sleeping berths on cockpit cushions with a full size ‘over-boom’ cockpit tent.
Two full length cockpit cushions included.
