Boat Overview

“The Ocean 33 is a Modern ocean-going cruising yacht, designed to be fast, comfortable and supremely seaworthy” Ed Dubois

Iolair Mhara (Sea Eagle), a Westerly Ocean 33, is a well-specified RCD Category A Cruising Yacht with a comprehensive inventory of equipment, easily sailed by two people or a family and comfortable on any cruise.

The Westerly Ocean 33 is regarded as one of the best builds by the renowned Westerly group. Sailing comfortably and close to the wind, she is a superb cruising vessel. Beautifully designed and sturdily built, Iolair Mhara (Sea Eagle) has been in our ownership for more than 13 years, has been meticulously maintained, and has cruised extensively in the Inner and Outer Hebrides.

The Westerly Ocean range was constructed using more modern materials than the previous models and, as such, had a premium price tag when they were in production. As quoted in the initial brochure referenced above.

The “Hull is hand-laminated GRP with double white isophthalic gelcoat backed with vinylester resin” (these are more modern resins that are highly resistant to osmosis).

“The deck has a special Firet mat that is used for a tough all-polyester deck construction which allows extra fittings to be added quickly, simply and safely at any time without any additional strengthening”, i.e., without the water ingress problems associated with the more frequently used balsa core.

Accommodation for six with ample headroom. Pressurised hot and cold-water system plus Eberspacher heating throughout. The fridge is spacious and can easily run overnight on the 12V house batteries because of the upgraded alternator regulation and battery isolation charging and can easily be monitored by the smart meter.

Westerly Ocean 33’s are not found on the market very often, with only 33 built.

She has a comprehensive sail wardrobe, equipment inventory, and range of accessories.

Iolair Mhara is only reluctantly for sale due to recent Elbow and Hand surgery.

VAT paid, with all documentation and the original bill of sale.

She is in Clyde Marina, Ardrossan, and is ready to cruise.

Further comprehensive information and pictures are available on request by email
