Channel Islands: Fitting out Supper
11th March 2017
This has turned out once again to be a most successful and enjoyable evening. Together with members of the Channel Islands Group, members of the Motor Section of the GYC and their guests, the event was well attended totalling 66 people in all. Eight tables of 8 – 10 places were set up, with a table plan naming each table as Merlin, Berwick, Falcoln, Seahawk, Griffon, Konsort, Fulmar, Centaur, depicting the type of Westerlys currently owned or have been owned by those diners present!
The evening began with welcoming remarks from Mike Tai, followed by a presentation of forthcoming joint events so far planned for this year, both on and off the water, by Sacha Yabsley, Rear Commodore (Motor).
A delicious meal consisting of Starters, Mains and Desserts then followed. As expected, the dishes were all well presented and efficiently served in an orderly manner.
The Loyal Toast was proposed by John Falla, Vice Commodore GYC. While having coffee, an expression of warm appreciation was given by all the people present to Peter the Chef and to the rest of the waitering staff.
A very successful and most generously supported Charity Raffle then took place, in aid of the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association. In addition to individuals, a many of the prizes came from local companies which were much appreciated. Indeed it has been decided to set aside some of the privately donated items for a Charity Auction, conducted complimentarily by Martel Maides in their Auction Room in the near future.
In conclusion, it was once again an enjoyable and unforgettable evening in the presence of good company, good food and good wine!
