Preference Help

Are you getting the emails and information you want?

Over the past year we have had a lot of changes with our new website and also GDPR, that requires us to be able to demonstrate what we do with your data.
We do this by having a series of options. For example ‘Publish my Phone number’ or ‘Do Not Publish my phone number’.
We call these ‘PREFERENCES’.
The status of your preferences can be accessed and changed by first signing on and logging on to the website. Then click the ‘MEMBERS DETAILS’ tab on the front page.

You will then see a list of 7 options. You can move down these one by one and change as you wish.

1. YOUR DETAILS
Is where you can change your personal details eg address, password.

2. YOUR PREFERENCES
Is the section where you can set your permissions & consents about the data we can publish in the Year Book. If your Year Book entry is a little light this year is was because we did not have all your consents.
It works by clicking a box such as ‘Publish my phone number’ when it will be published in the next edition. Conversely click ‘Do not publish my phone number’ means it will not.
All items default to a setting of  ‘Do Not …..’ they can be changed by you.

3. YOUR BOAT DETAILS
We would like to keep an accurate record of all boats and we rely on you updating your own record.

4. YOUR AREA GROUPS
Please make sure you have chosen at least one of the Groups (I want to Join). Your entry will show ‘I am a member of….’. This will make sure you get the latest information about what is happening in your areas. You can leave a Group by clicking ‘I want to Leave’.

5. YOUR YEAR BOOK ENTRY

This simply shows you how your year book entry will appear as a result of your entries under “YOUR PREFERENCE” settings.

6. YOUR ADVERTS

Is where you can find and edit any adverts you have posted on the site.

7. OTHER GROUPS BOAT SHOW VOLUNTEERS and WESTERLY ON WHEELS

You can add your name to the volunteer list for one of the Boat shows we attend. Currently these are Southampton, Jersey, and Scotland at Kip Marina. The Westerly stand at these shows is manned by volunteers chosen from these lists and all volunteers get a free WOA shirt.
Also on this tab you can indicate that you would like to receive information about WESTERLY ON WHEELS . WOW organise camping trips for members with camper vans/caravans etc. If you want to receive WOW emails click the ‘I want to join the Westerly on Wheels’ Blue box.
A message will appear to confirm that you have joined but , if you wish to leave,  click the Blue box again.

Our apologies that there is such a lot of detail requiring your attention.
The Association has a very large active membership with a large number of activities, rallies etc every year. The WOA website is there to keep you informed and help choose the activities you prefer to do.  You can now change these at any time.
