UPDATE 26/05/2025: Since placing this advert, I have had a number of enquiries and offers but no deal agreed. I have paid my annual marina fees and commited to another year of ownership. If anyone is interested, please contact me again in early 2026 before I commit to another year. In the meantime. I’ll keep working on her.

Hello.
I have a Westerly Merlin that I thinking of selling.
Just lifted last week (March 2025) for wash and antifouling removed and reapplied. While out of the water, it was fitted with new anode and new heads seacock.
Since purchasing her 2 years ago, I have been trying to refurbish it from top to bottom. I knew it was going to be a project but unfortunately its getting too much for me…I underestimated how much family and work commitments take up my time and therefore progress has been far too slow.
What I’ve done….
I have almost fully removed the old and failed deck paint…mixture of Owatrol GRP paint removal, scraper and elbow grease. Nearly all done.
Identified holes from obsolete and removed deck fittings that were causing water ingress to the cabin. To be filled.
The windows are the main culprit of water ingress (particularly starboard side) and the previous owners either neglected or failed to notice the damage it was causing. The headlining has completely failed and the starboard shelf was completely rotten and has been romoved entirely.
The wiring was a mess and I have removed the obsolete items with plans to rewire completely.
The engine (Bukh DV20) has been serviced annually but hardly used. It starts without delay or fail. Its weeping diesel from the injector pump and I have just received the o rings to hopefully fix that. The panel was an old vetus that didn’t work except to start and stop. I have bought a instrument pack and currently rewiring to connect to new pressure and temperature sensors. Just also fitted a new 12v70Amp alternator, battery selector, automatic charging relay and two new batteries.
The cabin headlining needs complete replacement….as do the cushions/soft furnishings..all were damp. The heads work fine and the galley still clean and working.
If anyone is interested in taking it on, please get in touch and I can give you a video tour etc.
She has great potential and is solid.
I would love to see it restored by me….I just can’t see it that happening….maybe someone else will be better placed to try.
